SONOGON

SONOGON - Laura Campbell/Adam Sloan 2023

SONOGON is a DYCP funded project which I was grateful to receive in July 2022 to research the innovative use of mycelium as a cutting edge100% biodegradable, lightweight sustainable building material with excellent acoustic properties -

The aim was to learn about and research the world of fungi and how to grow mycelium with the aim of constructing a prototype tourable participatory sonic artwork; a reinvention of our 360º nonagon listening structure built in 2018 whilst at Glasgow school of art

We explored growing and working with mycelium as a living construction material - the result was months of experimentation, connecting with mycelium experts, experimenting with different approaches to growing mycelium into panels for the final Sonogon Structure - the experience and process of DIY mycelium growing/cultivation has been revelatory, challenging and amazing in equal measures

This is the first stage of the project - we are currently in the planning process for the next stage.

If you are interested to hear more about the project - please get in touch through the contact page
